Questions Asked by a Young Pastor

As a young pastor I often wrestle with the questions "What is the church?" and "What does it mean to be a Christian in the modern world?" How I answer these questions have an enormous impact on the practicality of how I live and lead in the church.

They also have a profound impact on how you live your life - whether you follow Christ or not. Because how you answer these questions - especially the second one - really determines whether or not you think Christianity is a viable solution for your life. If you define being a Christian as going to church and stopping the activities you think are fun, then following Jesus does not have much appeal and you probably won't want to give it a try.

But if being a Christian means peace, love, joy, and freedom from the unnamed anxiety and fear that lives in your soul and haunts you when you are alone. Well, then suddenly its at least something worth considering.
